This weekend it’s the Liverpool derby, and with Liverpool scoring for fun, it’s possibly the only time this season Everton wouldn’t want to play their neighbours. Although Everton have been on a decent run of form of late, Liverpool have scored 15 goals in their last 3 games, conceding a solitary 2 goals in the process. My Prediction: 3-1 Liverpool (Sorry Matt).
Onto the rest of this weeks predictions:
Aston Villa vs Fulham: After Fulhams elation at beating their neighbours Chelsea last weekend, their first in over 40 years, they will be hoping they can win their first away match of the season at Villa Park. This is an important game for both teams as it would put a big gap between themselves and the relegation zone. My Prediction: 2-1 Villa.
Chelsea vs Man City: With Man Utd hot on Chelsea’s heel in the race for the title, Chelsea need to buck their ideas up, and this is a good chance to do so, with a Man City side that struggles away from home. City will be disappointed at losing out in the FA Cup on Monday to West Ham, and now they only have a feint hope of a european league spot. My Prediction: 2-1 Chelsea.
Sunderland vs Blackburn: Sunderland have been poor all season, and with Blackburn in the hunt for a Champions League spot, they will really struggle here. Other than that, this will probably be a very dull match. My Prediction: 2-0 Blackburn
Wigan vs West Ham: If ever there was a mid-table match, this would be it, with both teams just outside of the UEFA cup slots. West Ham still have their FA Cup concerns, but Wigan are free to concentrate on the league, and I think this might prove crucial. My Prediction: 3-1 Wigan.
Portsmouth vs Arsenal: A resurgent Portsmouth team will really be put to the test here, with Arsenal also on a charge up the league table. Arsenal are still chasing after the 4th spot in the league, and this is really a must win games for both teams, with pompey still struggling in the relegation zone. My Prediction: 2-1 Arsenal.
Charlton vs Newcastle: After Newcastle’s sudden improvement after Souness’s departure, in recent weeks they have been brought rapidly back to earth, with defeats against Man Utd and Liverpool in the league, and Chelsea in a very dirty FA Cup quarter final. Charlton have had a poor season all round, and with both teams level on points, this is a crucial game for both teams. My Prediction: 1-1 draw.
Man Utd vs Birmingham: When you lose 7-0 in the FA Cup, one of the last teams you want to face are another team on a run of form, and in facing Man Utd, who are top of the form table, Birmingham couldn’t have chosen a worser opposition. Birmingham have looked very poor recently, and they are, in my opinion, pretty much destined for the drop. My Prediction: 3-0 Man Utd.
Tottenham vs West Brom: As the season reaches it’s climax, all games for these teams become crucial. Spurs have only lost once at home all season, and that was to Chelsea, & West Brom have only a solitary away win, so this will be a tough tie for the midlanders. My Prediction: 2-1 Spurs.
Update: Whoops I’ve forgotten to do a prediction for Boro vs Bolton, oh well, too late now
